The Sunday Times war correspondent Marie Colvin and photographer Paul Conroy were no strangers to danger but their last mission together in 2012, when Marie was killed in Syria, would shock the world.

Join us on Tuesday, November 6 at Curzon Mayfair for a special screening of Under The Wire, the story of their fatal, final mission, covering the siege of Homs in Syria. An adaptation of Conroy's book, Chris Martin's film shows the horrors that those who risk their lives to uncover the truth endure.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Paul Conroy and Marie’s biographer, Lindsey Hilsum, hosted by The Sunday Times deputy editor, Sarah Baxter. Her book In Extremis: The Life of War Correspondent Marie Colvin (Chatto & Windus) will be published on November 1. As International Editor of Channel 4 News, Lindsey often worked alongside Marie and has had exclusive access to the diaries Marie kept from when she was 13 until just before she was killed, and also interviewed Marie’s friends, family and colleagues. In Extremis is the story of our turbulent age, and the life of a woman who defied convention.
With fierce compassion and honesty, Marie reported from the most dangerous places in the world, fractured by conflict and genocide, going in further and staying longer than anyone else. Like her hero, the legendary reporter Martha Gellhorn, she sought to bear witness to the horrifying truths of war, to write ‘the first draft of history’ and crucially to shine a light on the suffering of ordinary people.

Copies of the book will be available to purchase on the evening and a cash bar will be available before the film begins.
