At an exclusive online Times+ event which took place on Thursday, July 23 David Walsh, chief sportswriter for The Sunday Times and the journalist who broke the Lance Armstrong story, spoke about his latest book The Russian Affair, an unrivalled account of the greatest sporting scandal of our time.

David Walsh was in conversation with Matt Dickinson, chief sports writer for The Times, discussing the story that shocked the world: when Russian athletics was revealed to be corrupt from top to bottom, with institutionalised doping used to help the nation and hundreds of athlete win medals they did not truly deserve. The Russian Affair is the full story of the couple who blew the whistle.

David Walsh is a four-time UK sports writer of the year and a four-time Irish sports writer of the year. In 2012 he wrote Seven Deadly Sins, the story of his 13-year pursuit of the drug cheat Lance Armstrong, which played out on the pages of The Sunday Times and ended in a Hollywood movie, The Program (2015).
