Times+ book club: Lionel Shriver in conversation with Robbie Millen

Following the hugely popular launch of the Times+ online book club join us next on the evening of Thursday, July 9 where Lionel Shriver, author of the international bestseller We Need To Talk About Kevin will be in conversation with Robbie Millen.

Considered a modern classic, We Need to Talk About Kevin was the winner of the 2005 Orange prize and was adapted for a feature film in 2011 starring Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly. Lionel Shriver has been selected as the first author to be featured at our monthly book club and will be in conversation with Robbie Millen, literary editor for The Times, answering your questions and discussing her wider body of work. 

Lionel Shriver  is a widely published journalist, who has written fourteen novels which have been translated into 28 languages including;  the New York Times bestsellers So Much for That (a finalist for the 2010 National Book Award and the Wellcome Trust Book Prize) and The Post-Birthday World (Entertainment Weekly’s 2007 Book of the Year), and The Sunday Times bestseller The Mandibles: A Family, 2029 – 2047.  Lionel won the BBC National Short Story award in 2014 and her first collection of short stories, Property, was published in 2018.

Lionel’s latest novel The Motion of the Body Through Space is a scalpel-sharp dissection of a marriage, and of the modern obsession with exercise and fitness, published in 2020 by Borough Press.

We just ask that you register online as you would with our usual Times+ events. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with further details.
